Therapy for Pregnancy and Parenthood

There are so many reasons why you might need extra support during pregnancy and new parenthood.

You might be looking for support around fears, a sudden drop in mood, or haunting thoughts that are exacerbated by exhaustion.

The body changes associated with pregnancy and postpartum might be tricky for you because of body image issues or a history of disordered eating.

You might be having trouble communicating your wants and needs or adjusting to parenthood with your partner.

It might be really hard to find a new balance between parenting, your career, your relationships, or your creative practices.

Or you might be looking for a place to talk through this new role of “parent” and everything that comes with it: fears about being a good enough parent, complicated changes in your partnership and friendships, social anxiety getting kicked up around baby and me groups.

Whatever it is, therapy can be a place to work out the difficult feelings and find peace in this wild new reality.

My style is warm, human and non-judgmental. In addition to drawing from cognitive behavioral and depth/mindfulness based therapies, I’ve pursued advanced training and certification as a PMH-C through Postpartum Support International to be able to provide specialized support to individuals on the perinatal journey.

Couples Therapy for New and Expecting Parents

In addition to supporting new parents as individuals, I offer therapy for couples making or preparing to make the transition into parenthood. It is not unusual for couples to lose their way for a while when baby is introduced to the family. Therapy can help you figure out how to articulate needs, problem solve, and rediscover deep connection in the early years of parenthood. Depending on your needs, we will incorporate elements of EFT, mindfulness, and practical/educational guidance from the Gottman Institute’s Bringing Baby Home program.

Baby is Welcome

If childcare is an issue or you are not yet comfortable leaving your baby with someone else, you are welcome to bring your baby to session. I’m no stranger to nursing, poopy diapers, crying, fussing, etc. Additionally, therapy over video can be a more manageable way to integrate therapy into the demands of your day while you are in this complex and tender phase of life.
